Remarkable Enzo Fernandez stat emerges after perfect Man City start

A remarkable statistic has underlined the contrasting fortunes of Man City and Chelsea since Enzo Fernandez swapped Stamford Bridge for the Etihad.

Kalshi FC highlighted that City have won every Premier League game since Fernandez completed his £125m move on deadline day, while Chelsea have failed to win in the competition during the same period.

The numbers back it up. City have played three league matches since the transfer was completed, beating Coventry City 1-0, Manchester United 1-0 and Sunderland 5-3. Chelsea’s three league games since Fernandez left have brought a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, a 2-2 home draw with Hull City and Friday night’s 3-0 defeat at Brentford.

Enzo Fernandez makes immediate Man City impact

The contrasting records do not, of course, mean Fernandez’s departure alone explains Chelsea’s results, but the statistic is a striking one given the size of the deadline-day transfer.

Fernandez has already been heavily involved for Enzo Maresca. He made his City debut in the victory over Coventry before helping the ten men win the Manchester derby at Old Trafford. His involvement in Erling Haaland’s winner subsequently became the subject of controversy after Pro Ref acknowledged the goal should have been disallowed for offside, but Fernandez’s contribution to the performance itself was significant.

The Argentina midfielder then scored his first City goal on Sunday, curling home a free-kick as Maresca’s side beat Sunderland 5-3 to maintain their perfect Premier League start. City head into the international break with five wins from five and a three-point lead at the top of the table. Chelsea have taken one point from their three league matches since Fernandez moved to Manchester.
