City are reportedly keeping tabs on Real Sociedad defender Jon Aramburu, with Liverpool also credited with an interest.
The Venezuela international has become a regular for the La Liga side and is now attracting attention from England, according to TEAMtalk. There is no suggestion of an approach from City at this stage, nor has a possible fee been mentioned.
City linked with Jon Aramburu
Aramburu primarily operates at right-back and would give Enzo Maresca another option across his defence.
TEAMtalk claims City and Liverpool are both interested in the defender, although the report does not suggest either club has moved beyond that point.
City already have plenty of competition at centre-back, as we covered in our look at Maresca’s defensive options, but the make-up of the wider back line could still change in future windows. Aramburu is therefore a name worth noting. Anything beyond that would be getting ahead of the current report.
Barcelona linked with Erling Haaland again
Meanwhile, Erling Haaland continues to be linked with Barcelona. Football Insider reports that the Spanish club remain interested in the City striker and could consider a move next year. There is nothing to suggest Haaland is pushing to leave City and no talks with Barcelona have been reported.
It is hardly the first time Haaland has been linked with one of Europe’s biggest clubs and probably will not be the last. The BBC Sport transfer gossip column has more on the latest stories being reported across the media.
Of Sunday’s two claims, Aramburu is the newer name from a City perspective. Whether that interest develops into anything more substantial will become clearer as the January window gets closer.
For now, City have been linked with another defensive option and little more than that.
