Man City trio named in England squad as Foden misses out

Three Man City players have been named in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad, but Phil Foden has again missed out.

Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi and Elliot Anderson have all been selected as Tuchel reshuffles his options for the forthcoming international break.

However, there is no place for Phil Foden, who remains outside the England squad after also missing the previous international window.

Foden’s absence is particularly notable given his long involvement at senior international level, but Tuchel has made several changes elsewhere in his squad.

Harry Maguire is another high-profile omission, while Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are included. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cole Palmer, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lewis Hall and Myles Lewis-Skelly have also been recalled.

O’Reilly’s inclusion continues his rapid progress at senior level, while Guehi provides Tuchel with an established option in central defence. Anderson also retains his place as he looks to add to his England appearances.

For City, the immediate consequence is that Maresca will lose three more members of his squad to international duty, while Foden will remain with the players not involved with their countries.

The full England squad and details of the other inclusions and omissions can be found in the Manchester Evening News report.
