Phil Foden is set to miss City’s Premier League trip to Liverpool as part of a three-match domestic suspension following his red card against Manchester United.

Foden set to miss three Man City games
A dismissal for violent conduct normally carries a three-match suspension, while red-card bans apply across the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup. That means Foden is set to miss Thursday’s Carabao Cup third-round tie against Norwich at the Etihad and Sunday’s Premier League game against Sunderland.
The international break then follows, so the third game of his suspension is set to be City’s trip to Liverpool on 11 October.
Foden would remain eligible to play in Europe because the domestic suspension does not apply to Champions League fixtures. City’s next game after Liverpool is against Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad on 14 October. City could appeal against the red card, although there has been no confirmation that they intend to do so.
Enzo Maresca accepted after the derby that Foden’s reaction warranted a red card, although the City boss believed Fernandes should also have been dismissed for his part in the incident.
