Major Nico O’Reilly boost for Manchester derby

Enzo Maresca has confirmed Nico O’Reilly is fully fit for Sunday’s Manchester derby – but Jérémy Doku will miss the short trip to Old Trafford.

O’Reilly suffered a back problem during the warm-up before City‘s 1-0 win over Coventry last weekend and was forced to withdraw from the starting XI. He subsequently missed Tuesday night’s 2-0 Champions League victory at Porto, but will be available to face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

“Nico is 100% available,” Maresca confirmed on Friday.

Doku to miss Manchester derby

There was less encouraging news on Doku, who has been sidelined since suffering a calf problem during the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal. Sunday will come too soon for the Belgian, who must wait a bit longer for his return.

“Jérémy, I think he needs some more days,” said Maresca.

O’Reilly’s return gives Maresca another option at Old Trafford after the 21-year-old missed City’s last two matches. His versatility could prove useful, with O’Reilly capable of playing at left-back or in midfield.

Doku, meanwhile, will have to wait a little longer for his return.
