Manchester City player ratings vs Bournemouth

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6
Beaten by a well-worked Tavernier finish he had little chance with, but made a smart save to deny Daniel Jebbison’s header in the second half when City still needed rescuing.

Abdukodir Khusanov – 6
A quiet afternoon at right-back. Nothing alarming, but nothing that stood out either in a defence that was opened up too easily for Bournemouth’s goal.

Rúben Dias – 6.5
Steady if unspectacular alongside two new-look centre-back partners. Organised without ever looking totally comfortable against Bournemouth’s movement in behind.

Marc Guéhi – 7
An afternoon of extremes. Somehow headed wide from six yards with the goal gaping just after the hour, then made amends in the best way possible, heading home the equaliser in the 84th minute.

Josko Gvardiol – 8.5
Man of the match. A crucial recovery tackle to snuff out a Bournemouth counter at 0-1, then the calmest of finishes for the stoppage-time winner after Cherki’s pass, staying just onside thanks to James Hill’s trailing leg.

Rico Lewis – 6
Bright early with a clever backheel to tee up his own effort, saved by Petrovic. Faded as the half wore on and was the first player withdrawn, at the break for Nunes.

Elliot Anderson – 6.5
His first appearance in City colours since the summer move. Tracked back well to win the ball off Alex Scott, and his corner should have brought an assist when Guéhi headed wide. Subbed just after the hour.

Nico O’Reilly – 6.5
Involved in City’s best two first-half chances, setting up Haaland’s glaring miss and later picking out Foden, who couldn’t quite connect. Industrious without the final product to show for it.

Antoine Semenyo – 6
A watchful full debut against his old club. Went close with a mistimed volley after Nunes’ knockdown but otherwise found City’s forward play difficult to influence.

Phil Foden – 6.5
Provided the outside-of-the-boot backheel that nearly opened the scoring inside five minutes. Picked up a booking for a late challenge and was withdrawn for Grealish with eight minutes left.

Erling Haaland – 5.5
A rare off-day in front of goal. Should have scored inside 14 minutes with the goal at his mercy, then poked another effort wide before half-time. Anonymous by his own standards.

Substitutes

Matheus Nunes – 6.5 (on for Lewis, 56′) Added a threat down the right and delivered the cross that nearly found Haaland and then Semenyo.

Rayan Cherki – 8 (on for Anderson, 62′) Changed the game. Won the corner that led to Guéhi’s equaliser and supplied the pass that sent Gvardiol through for the winner.

Jack Grealish – N/A (on for Foden, 82′). Too brief a cameo, in his first Premier League appearance back at the club, to fairly assess.
