Burnley agree straight loan deal for Man City centre-back Max Alleyne

Burnley have reached an agreement with City to sign promising central defender Max Alleyne on a season-long loan, according to transfer authority Fabrizio Romano.

The highly-rated 21-year-old will head to Turf Moor on a straight loan deal running through until June 2027.

Crucially for City, the arrangement includes no option or obligation for Burnley to buy him at the end of the deal, ensuring the academy product will return to the Etihad at the conclusion of the campaign. Alleyne is scheduled to undergo his medical before officially finalising the move.

A cultured, ball-playing defender who joined City’s academy from Southampton in 2021, Alleyne has steadily progressed through the youth ranks and earned valuable first-team exposure under Pep Guardiola in domestic cup competitions and pre-season fixtures.

Comfortable playing out from the back with either foot and capable of stepping into defensive midfield, his composure on the ball makes him an ideal fit for most tactical systems.

With senior opportunities limited at City given the defensive depth ahead of him, the move to the Championship offers Alleyne the ideal platform to gain vital first-team minutes and competitive experience before challenging for a permanent spot in Enzo Maresca’s squad upon his return in 2027.
