  • Kerolin helped Man City win the WSL title this season
  • The Brazilian scored 10 goals across all competitions
  • City face Brighton in the Women’s FA Cup final

Kerolin arrived at Manchester City with major expectations attached to her name, and the Brazilian has already justified that faith during her first full season in England.

The 26-year-old joined City from North Carolina Courage in January 2025. She also previously became the first South American player to win the NWSL Most Valuable Player award.

After adjusting to the Women’s Super League during her opening months in Manchester, Kerolin has become a far more influential figure under Andrée Jeglertz this season.

She scored 10 goals and five assists across all competitions during City’s title-winning campaign. Kerolin also became the first Brazilian player to win the English top-flight.

However, with City now preparing for one final assignment at Wembley, Kerolin has the opportunity to end a breakthrough season with another major honour.

Kerolin ‘not sleeping’ ahead of Man City final

Speaking to Manchester City’s official website, Kerolin revealed her excitement ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup final against Brighton.

The Brazilian can’t wait for the game and is ready to make her impact at Wembley. She also added that finals are the matches players dream of playing.

“To be fair, I’m not sleeping because I can’t wait for this game. It’s one more opportunity to do your best and win,” Kerolin said.

She added, “I think the team’s ready. Tomorrow’s another day and time to train. We dream for finals, we have an opportunity to play another one, we’re really excited.”

Brighton warning should keep Man City focused at Wembley

City will head into Sunday’s final with confidence after winning the league and producing a dramatic FA Cup semi-final comeback against Chelsea.

The Citizens came from 2-0 down with five minutes remaining at Stamford Bridge. However, the game ended 3-2 as Khadija Shaw’s extra-time header completed a remarkable victory for the visitors.

Nevertheless, the Sky Blues’ previous meeting with Brighton provides a clear warning against underestimating their opponents at Wembley.

Kerolin opened the scoring inside five minutes at Broadfield Stadium last month. City had further chances to extend their advantage but couldn’t find the back of the net again in the first half.

Brighton then punished City after the break, scoring twice on the counter-attack, winning 3-2. Likewise, Kerolin will be crucial if she starts and will be hoping to make a difference early in the game.

Kerolin can ensure Man City are not reliant on Khadija Shaw

City’s dramatic semi-final victory over Chelsea once again demonstrated the importance of Khadija Shaw. The striker scored twice to turn a potential cup exit into a place at Wembley.

The Jamaican has been the champions’ main source of goals this season. She has scored 19 times in the WSL and finished the campaign as the division’s leading scorer.

However, Kerolin provides another proven match-winner in the attacking line. Her nine league goals were joint-fourth in the WSL this season.

The Brazilian’s hat-trick against Chelsea in February showed the difference she can make in major matches.

Shaw only managed to score one goal that day. Likewise, Jeglertz will be comfortable knowing that they’ll have more than one route to victory in the final.
