  • Man City had some thrilling encounters during the 2025/26
  • Many of them were significant and will live long in the memory
  • But not every game will be reflected on with much fondness

Now that Manchester City’s season is complete, we’ve selected the club’s top three matches of the season, as well as three games which weren’t so good.

Here are the selections we have made, taking into account the team’s performance, and how significant the result became towards the season as a whole.

Manchester City 3-0 Manchester United – September 14, 2025

Any victory against Man United is enjoyable, and especially the ones like this where multiple goals are scored.

Phil Foden and Erling Haaland well and truly put the Red Devils to the sword, handing City their first home win of the Premier League season.

It was desperately needed too, after two successive defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton respectively.

Manchester City 4-0 Liverpool – April 4, 2026

How could we make a list of City’s best matches of the season without including one of their FA Cup fixtures?

The 10-1 win over Exeter City was a lot of fun, but this performance against Liverpool was a big moment in the season.

Man City were absolutely brutal, and looked unstoppable in attack. Haaland bagged a hat-trick, and Antoine Semenyo scored a very good goal too.

Arsenal 0-2 Manchester City – March 22, 2026

The best of the best, Man City’s Carabao Cup final victory over Arsenal will be commemorated in the history books.

It became the Nico O’Reilly show – an unlikely hero who scored two goals in the second half, despite playing at left-back.

Many had already written the Citizens off by this point in the season, but they showed that on their day, they could still defeat any team in the country.

Manchester United 2-0 Manchester City – January 17, 2026

As good as the first Manchester derby of the season was, this one was a truly dreadful occasion for the visitors.

In truth, the 2-0 scoreline actually flattered them. It could have been a much heavier defeat, in a match which continued City’s poor run of form.

At that point in the season, the Sky Blues had just drawn three successive games, and dropping all three points at Old Trafford further gave Arsenal an advantage.

Real Madrid 3-0 Manchester City – March 11, 2026

While Man City were often underrated when it came to facing the eventual Premier League winners, they were expected to defeat Real Madrid.

Despite this, Federico Valverde absolutely tore the Sky Blues to shreds at the Bernabeu, making any chance of a comeback very unlikely.

This ultimately saw City fail to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for a second consecutive season, which is simply not good enough.

Everton 3-3 Manchester City – May 4, 2026

City’s draw against Bournemouth is what officially cost them the Premier League, but it was the draw against Everton where everything went wrong.

The Citizens had got themselves back up to first place after a victory over Arsenal, but this lead was very short lived.

Despite a dominant first half display, one Marc Guehi error led to a total collapse. In the end, it was only thanks to Jeremy Doku’s brilliance that City scraped a draw.

More memories will be made next season

With Guardiola leaving Man City, a new manager will have the chance to lead City to victory in matches people will remember.

Progressing further in the Champions League is a necessity, and righting the wrongs of this season’s Premier League campaign is also so important.

Hopefully it will be City’s year in 2026/27, and the beginning of a new successful era which lasts for some time.
