- Ally McCoist names his team of the season
- Three Manchester City players make the cut
- No room for the Premier League’s top scorer
Ally McCoist has revealed his team of the season, and it will not go down well with Manchester City supporters.
Man City have had quite the campaign, lifting both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the space of two months.
The Premier League did not bring about the same level of success, but the Citizens still managed to push Arsenal to the final week.
And there were some obvious standout performers, who deserve recognition for how they kept pushing throughout the season.
Ally McCoist leaves Erling Haaland out of his team of the season
Ex-Rangers striker Ally McCoist has made his team of the year, and three Man City players have received a special mention.
Nico O’Reilly and Antoine Semenyo were both selected, while Rayan Cherki also made the team on the right wing.

However, there was no room for Erling Haaland, despite the fact he won a third golden boot, and was clearly the best striker across the season.
Haaland and Matheus Nunes should not have missed out
Choosing Thiago over Haaland is simply to avoid a team overcrowded with Man City players. Because in truth, the Norwegian has been much better.
Haaland scored five more Premier League goals than Thiago, and was also far superior when it came to creating chances. Indeed, the 25-year-old recorded eight assists, while Thiago only managed one.
In addition to this, Matheus Nunes was also unlucky to miss out, after a season where he has been outstanding in the right-back position.
McCoist instead chose Jurrien Timber, but the Arsenal defender missed the North London club’s final seven league matches of the season.
Haaland is the Premier League’s most underrated player
Time and time again, Haaland seems to be ignored by the media, except when they can have a pop at him for failing to score in a cup final.
The striker has had another superb campaign, and making a team of the season is the least of what he deserves.
Every single year without fail, Haaland has delivered for Man City. Players like Thiago are good one season and gone the next, but City’s goal machine is not going anywhere.
