- Oscar Bobb came through Man City’s academy
- Handed his senior debut by Pep Guardiola
- Winger heaps praise on manager’s achievements
Pep Guardiola has received a lot of praise since announcing his departure from Manchester City, including from those whose sales he approved.
Oscar Bobb burst onto the scene at Man City a few years ago, as Guardiola gave him his debut against his current club Fulham.
However, his time at the Citizens was marred by injuries, including a broken leg suffered in August 2024.
Bobb made 47 appearances for City in total, but was moved on in January this year, joining Fulham for £27m.
Oscar Bobb calls Pep Guardiola the ‘best ever’
Despite Guardiola having no further use of Bobb at Man City, the 22-year-old still holds his former boss in high regard.
Reflecting on his legacy, Bobb has admitted it is sad to see Guardiola go, adding that he is the best manager the sport has ever seen.

He told talkSPORT: “For me, he’s probably the best ever. And you can do one session with him and realise why he’s so accomplished, so amazing.
“It’s because he loves it and he does love his players, the people he works with and he’s so passionate every day.
“It’s a big loss for the Premier League, obviously for Manchester City, and a bit sad.”
Bobb has work to do at Fulham
Although things ultimately did not work out for Bobb at Man City, he is grateful for the mentorship he was given from Guardiola.
And now the Norwegian must use that in order to succeed at Fulham, where he has made a fairly mixed start.
Bobb has made 12 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers, but he has only completed a full 90-minute match in the FA Cup.
In addition to this, the attacker is yet to register a single goal contribution since arriving in London. In fact, he has only managed one during the entire season.
£27m is a hefty price tag to live up to
For Fulham, a £27m transfer fee is a lot of money, and Bobb has to show that he is good enough to be a regular starter.
He has played with some of the world’s best players at Man City, and now he must use what he has learnt to succeed in the English top flight.
Some City stars leave and never play at a high level ever again, while others are able to flourish elsewhere.
Bobb has to ensure he overcomes what can only be described as a big career setback. He may no longer be at the Sky Blues, but that does not mean his best days are behind him.
