Manchester City have no desire to let Omar Marmoush depart this summer, but keeping him could mean making some compromises.

Omar Marmoush is a talented striker with a keen eye for goal. However, his game time has been highly limited this season.

The 27-year-old has eight goals and three assists in all competitions, having made 35 appearances, although only 18 of those have been starts.

Inevitably, questions are being asked of Marmoush’s future, but it turns out Man City still see the value in preventing him from a summer exit.

Omar Marmoush wants a bigger role at Manchester City

According to Egyptian news site Win Win, Man City want Marmoush to remain at the club ahead of next season.

But in order to secure his future, the Citizens will need to offer their striker a ‘bigger role’ which involves more playing time.

Both parties are set to have a discussion once the season has finished, and Marmoush wants to know the extent of his role in the team.

Should the Egyptian choose to leave Man City, he will have the option to join a number of clubs from the Saudi Pro League, with interest increasing in the Middle East.

Despite this, Marmoush would prefer to remain in Europe, as there is potential interest from Aston Villa, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Marmoush has warranted more first-team appearances

It is not easy being an understudy to Erling Haaland, because the Norway international is never going to be dropped.

Nevertheless, Marmoush deserves more minutes, considering the contributions he has made when on the pitch.

He scored important goals against Newcastle in both the Carabao and FA Cups, and has netted in his two most recent Premier League matches.

Of course, Marmoush was handed an unexpected start in the FA Cup final, but he was hooked at half-time.

It is not as if the forward did much when he was on the pitch, but then again, neither did Haaland in the first half.

Marmoush’s situation could change when Pep Guardiola leaves

If the reports going around City are to be believed, Pep Guardiola is set to leave this summer, which could be a game changer for Marmoush.

It has ultimately been Guardiola’s decision-making which has so often kept him out of Man City’s first-team.

Having said that, unless the Sky Blues bring in a manager who wants to play two centre forwards, Marmoush is still likely to be on the bench more often than not.

Starting ahead of Haaland is simply not going to happen, so it will be interesting to see how his conversation with the club unfolds once the season has drawn to a close.
