Man City news today: FA Cup final build-up

It’s FA Cup final day at Wembley Stadium. Read all about it here on Read Man City.

Rayan Ait-Nouri praises Man City’s winning attitude

Having quality players can help towards winning competitions, but to be so consistent requires the mentality of serial champions.

This is what has impressed Rayan Ait-Nouri the most about Man City, and he has highlighted how the club’s environment is built on wanting to be successful.

“Yeah, this club is the mentality you know,” Ait-Nouri told BBC Radio Manchester. “Everyone wants to compete, everyone wants to win trophies like we saw the last few years.

“They [Man City] win a lot of trophies. Champions League, they win a lot of FA Cups, Premier League also.

“Maybe it’s the mentality of this club. Win, just win, win, win. Win every game.”

Nico O’Reilly branded the perfect player by Pep Guardiola

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Man City’s match against Chelsea, Pep Guardiola has spoken about how impressed he has been by O’Reilly.

Guardiola is particularly keen on the England international’s physicality, along with the way he can quickly burst into action.

“He’s so young, it’s not his position [left-back] but he’s learned a lot,” Guardiola said of O’Reilly.

“But the impact he’s had this season has been not necessary to tell. He made his position elsewhere, more central, more close to the box, but with his physicality [and] pace.

“I remember last season one game at home against [a team from] the lower divisions, his physicality to go and come back – he’s a perfect player for this league.”

Pep Guardiola backs Erling Haaland to score in FA Cup final

Haaland might not have got his long awaited cup final goal yet, but Pep Guardiola is backing him to score against Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has scored in his four most recent starts, so he just needs to add one more game to this tally in order to break the deadlock.

When asked in his pre-match press conference about Haaland not scoring in cup finals, Guardiola said: “Oh, no! Good. I like these kind of questions. Tomorrow, it’s going to happen. On

Man City cannot celebrate FA Cup win due to busy schedule

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Guardiola revealed that there would be no time for City to party, were they to win the FA Cup.

This is because the Citizens will have to head back to Manchester, only to head back down south to take on Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

He said: “The main target after the FA Cup final is taking a shower quick, come back to Manchester, go to sleep. Because on Monday, we have to fly to Bournemouth. That’s the schedule.

“Imagine, hypothetically, tomorrow we win. We cannot even celebrate it! We have to go home immediately to prepare the other final we have in Bournemouth.

“This is, today, what happens in modern football, unfortunately, honestly. But it is what it is.”

Chris Sutton backs Man City to thrash Chelsea

Ex-Chelsea striker Chris Sutton is in no mood to back his old club, as he reckons they will produce what he describes as one of their ‘bad days’.

The pundit has noted how Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki were both rested against Crystal Palace, which will work in City’s favour.

“Pep rested players in midweek when City beat Crystal Palace and left Erling Haaland out, much to the annoyance of Fantasy Premier League managers,” Sutton told BBC Sport.

“Haaland will be back in the team at Wembley, though, and he will benefit from the rest, along with the likes of Rayan Cherki.

“Chelsea have been patchy all season and if they have one of their bad days, then this could get a bit messy for them.”

Sutton’s prediction: Chelsea 0-5 Manchester City
