Chris Sutton predicts Man City to put five goals past ‘patchy’ Chelsea in FA Cup final

Chris Sutton predicts Man City to put five goals past ‘patchy’ Chelsea in FA Cup final
  • Man City need one more win to lift FA Cup
  • Must defeat out-of-form Chelsea
  • Chris Sutton makes bold prediction

Chris Sutton has made his prediction for the FA Cup final, and it will bring a smile to the faces of Manchester City supporters.

Everybody seems to have an opinion on the FA Cup final, and most are backing Man City to claim their second trophy of the season.

Chelsea’s struggles since the summer saw them sack Enzo Maresca, which has led to things becoming even worse.

Liam Rosenior was recently shown the door, and Calum McFarlane has not yet been able to get the Blues on a winning run.

Chris Sutton backs Man City to thrash Chelsea

Ex-Chelsea striker Chris Sutton is in no mood to back his old club, as he reckons they will produce what he describes as one of their ‘bad days’.

The pundit has noted how Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki were both rested against Crystal Palace, which will work in City’s favour.

“Pep rested players in midweek when City beat Crystal Palace and left Erling Haaland out, much to the annoyance of Fantasy Premier League managers,” Sutton told BBC Sport.

“Haaland will be back in the team at Wembley, though, and he will benefit from the rest, along with the likes of Rayan Cherki.

“Chelsea have been patchy all season and if they have one of their bad days, then this could get a bit messy for them.”

Sutton’s prediction: Chelsea 0-5 Manchester City

Man City’s players are remaining cautious

Dangerous is a word both Jeremy Doku and Mateo Kovacic have used as a description for Chelsea before the FA Cup final.

Additionally, Bernardo Silva has admitted he is expecting a tough game, with Chelsea still a strong team on their day.

Regardless of Sutton’s enthusiasm, Man City cannot afford to let their guard down, because Chelsea will do what they can to cause problems with counter-attacking moves.

City could do with scoring the first goal

It is important for Man City to make a good start. They may be a team with the ability to respond to setbacks, as shown against Southampton, but going ahead would be useful.

James Trafford made some vital first half saves against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final, and once Nico O’Reilly put City ahead, the victory never felt in doubt.

So if Man City can get the first goal, they would be placing themselves in a strong position against a Chelsea side lacking belief.

The last thing the Citizens want to do is to let Chelsea feel like they have a chance, especially as this will get their supporters going.

However, even if the London club do get their noses in front, City have individuals in their squad who can create goalscoring moments out of nothing.
