- Doku previews FA Cup final
- Outlines Chelsea threat
- Makes observation on club’s season
Jeremy Doku has praised Chelsea ahead of the FA Cup final, while paring his kind comments with a point of criticism.
The FA Cup final is almost upon us and Manchester City are the favourites to emerge victorious from Wembley Stadium.
City are in brilliant form, remaining unbeaten in domestic competitions since their Manchester derby defeat in January.
Chelsea are in considerably worse form, recording only one victory in the past month. Excluding the FA Cup, the Blues have not won a game since March.
Despite this, Jeremy Doku is expecting a tough task for Man City when they take on the London outfit this Saturday.
Jeremy Doku reveals why Chelsea will be dangerous
Doku is in brilliant form, and Chelsea will be looking at him as a player who could cause all sorts of problems, in and around the penalty final third.
However, the winger knows Chelsea too have tools to hurt City. Still, he has made the point that the Blues have been a long way off their best recently.
“I think, obviously, this season [Chelsea] haven’t been to their standards,” Doku told The National News.
“I believe that they want to end the season well with a trophy, so they will give it their all.
“When you look at the squad, you still see that they have amazing players. I feel like they will maybe give us the ball a bit, but on counter-attacks it will be very dangerous. We already played against them recently, so we know a bit how they play. It will be an interesting game.
Doku is looking forward to another match at Wembley
Nico O’Reilly was the hero in Man City’s most recent cup final, but Doku did an excellent job at Wembley Stadium in last month’s FA Cup semi-final.
The 23-year-old was brought on after 58 minutes and got the Citizens back on level terms with Southampton, before assisting Nico Gonzalez for the winner.
And now he is looking forward to playing at Wembley again, with hopes of replicating his recent Premier League form.
“Obviously, it’s a big stadium,” Doku added. “Every time you play at Wembley, there are two crowds. One against you and one for you.
“When you go there, you know it’s because of a big game, a final or a semi-final. I’ve played there a couple of times in the last years and it’s always been great to play there.
“The stadium itself already gives you that atmosphere, but also the occasion changes it.”
Will Doku push Man City towards victory against Chelsea?
Doku has been a nightmare for opposing teams to handle in recent weeks. He keeps on cutting inside and curling shots into the top corner, with no defenders able to stop him.
The winger put Everton to the sword and his display against Brentford was just as good, with three goals recorded in total. Therefore, he could well be the player who makes the biggest impact for Man City on Saturday.
Rayan Cherki is an excellent creator and Erling Haaland’s prolific goalscoring is second to none in English football, but Doku right now is the player who can cause something out of nothing.
