- Man City and Chelsea battling for FA Cup
- Guardiola’s team viewed as favourites
- Opta Supercomputer makes prediction
The Opta Supercomputer has delivered a decisive verdict on which team it expects to lift the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester City have a bogey team from London who go by the name of Tottenham Hotspur. For some reason, the Lilywhites always seem to get a result against Pep Guardiola’s team.
However, City themselves are another London club’s greatest bane, which is ideal ahead of the FA Cup final.
Chelsea have failed to defeat Man City in 13 consecutive meetings. Across those matches, the Sky Blues have recorded an aggregate score of 25-7.
Opta Supercomputer predicts Man City to win FA Cup
The head-to-head record between Man City and Chelsea clearly favours the former, and current form also points towards them winning this weekend.
While Chelsea’s only recent victories have come in previous rounds of the FA Cup, City have only failed to win one of their past nine matches.
With this in mind, the Opta Supercomputer has given the Citizens a 58 per cent chance of victory, while Chelsea’s likelihood of a win stands at a measly 20 per cent.
In fact, the Supercomputer reckons the match is more likely to go to extra time than for Calum McFarlane’s men to record a victory.
Both teams have suffered scares in the FA Cup
Man City’s route to the final was straightforward for the most part, until their semi-final tie against Southampton came around.
The Saints were strong in defence and even took the lead after 78 minutes, forcing a last-gasp response from Jeremy Doku and Nico Gonzalez.
Chelsea have also had their struggles, being forced into extra time against 10-man Wrexham and scraping past Leeds in the semi-finals.
However, both sides have picked up some comfortable wins in the competition too, where their attacking threat has really been on display.
City should win the FA Cup
The pressure is on both City and Chelsea to deliver, but this is a game where Guardiola ought to be leading his team to victory.
To put it simply, Manchester City are better than Chelsea across the pitch, as reflected by the 28-point gap which separates them in the Premier League.
Doku is unstoppable right now, Haaland scores whether he is having a good game or not, and Rayan Cherki is capable of creating something from nothing.
Man City are by no means guaranteed a win, but the fans will certainly be expecting one.
