- Phil Foden records 100th goal contribution
- Joins list of all-time Man City greats
- Takes time to wax lyrical over Haaland
Phil Foden has reacted to registering his 100th goal contribution by heaping praise on one of his teammates.
Wednesday night was special for Phil Foden. He earned two assists against Crystal Palace, taking his overall goal contribution tally for Man City up to a century.
Both Foden’s assists were quite extraordinary. The first was an intelligent backheeled pass to Antoine Semenyo, while he picked out Omar Marmoush with a fine touch for the second.
This meant City already held a firm lead at half-time, allowing them to take things a bit easier as the match progressed.
Phil Foden praises Erling Haaland after significant milestone
Last night was all about Foden, but the ever modest midfielder has opted to sound the praises of Erling Haaland, who remained on the bench.
Foden was made aware of all the players to have surpassed 100 goal contributions for Man City, prompting him to describe the Norwegian striker as a club ‘legend’.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s not a bad list. Happy to be on that list, to be honest. The players you’ve just named there are City legends, even Erling already I’d say is a City legend.
“To be on that list, to get my 100th goal and assist, it means a lot to be honest. Great stat!”
Haaland will benefit if Foden keeps up his form
Since Haaland arrived at Man City, he has been assisted nine times by Foden, while the Englishman has scored seven goals assisted by Haaland.
If Foden is able to maintain the level of performance he displayed against Crystal Palace, Haaland will reap the benefits, as Marmoush did against Palace.

Pep Guardiola has often bemoaned the fact that Haaland does not receive enough support, causing him to go missing at times.
However, he would be very much involved as the recipient of the types of balls Foden was delivering on Wednesday.
Foden will be important to Man City’s Premier League title charge
Saturday might be too soon for Foden to be starting, as he has only just found his rhythm again after a period of setbacks.
The FA Cup final is a huge game, and it simply does not seem possible that Guardiola would accommodate Foden by removing either Rayan Cherki or Semenyo from his starting lineup.
Despite this, City have another two fixtures remaining in the Premier League which must be won if they are to have a chance at winning the competition.
After Saturday, Guardiola will look to rest some players before the club’s final game of the season, which gives Foden a high chance of starting against Bournemouth.
Winning at the Vitality Stadium will not be easy, so the 25-year-old will need to keep playing those sharp passes to get his team firing.
