Enzo Maresca has revealed he is ready to get back in the game while addressing the rumours linking him to Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola has made no mention of stepping down from his role as Manchester City manager this summer.

However, the club have been drawing up a list of potential replacements in case he decides to part ways a year before his contract ends.

Man City have held talks with Enzo Marseca and he is now seen as off-limits by other teams due to Sky Blues’ interest.

Enzo Maresca responds to Man City rumours

Maresca had stayed quiet about a potential return to Manchester City, but now he has offered his verdict.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian says he is ‘ready’ to get back into a managerial role, but he has not confirmed whether it will be as an employee of the Citizens.

He said: “I’m feeling ready for the next chapter, that’s the most important thing. Man City job? What matters, apart from clubs, is to be ready”.

“There’s still a few weeks before the season ends and then we will see what happens”.

Guardiola should remain at City if Arsenal win the Premier League

It feels like Man City are so close to being a Premier League winning team, but this season they have nearly always been at a deficit to Arsenal.

There have been periods of inconsistency throughout the campaign which have seen the Gunners steer ahead.

Nevertheless, Guardiola looks to have found his best team and with another chance to make signings this summer, City could be a force to be reckoned with in a few months.

Should Man City win the FA Cup, Guardiola would be ending on a high no matter what. However, it would be far better to depart after a Premier League triumph.

Man City fans are unsettled by Maresca’s lack of experience

Maresca knows Man City well, having served as Guardiola’s assistant before making the switch to Leicester City.

The manager had success at the Foxes, but there is a big difference between winning the Premier League and the Championship.

Although Maresca did a decent job at Chelsea, winning the Club World Cup and Conference League, this was not enough to save him from a mid-season sacking.

With other candidates such as Xabi Alonso and Vincent Kompany to be named, these are the types of coaches most Citizens want to see take over.
