Manchester City are monitoring the situation of rising talent Matias Fernandez-Pardo, with the young Lille star’s future at the French club unclear.

With the summer transfer window looming, an increasing number of players are being linked with a move to top European clubs.

City are no exception, with the Carabao Cup winners attracting plenty of potential new signings whenever the window opens.

Now, they have been linked with a move for young Lille attacker Fernandez-Pardo, who has impressed in Ligue 1 so far this season.

Manchester City keen on Fernandez-Pardo

According to journalist and transfer expert Nicolo Schira, City are monitoring Fernandez-Pardo’s situation, and are believed to be long-term admirers.

The 2005-born striker has eight goals and five assists in the French league this season, and has featured 11 times for Lille in the UEFA Europa League.

City are thought to be keen on the 21-year-old as a signing for the future, one that could eventually add depth and competition for main man Erling Haaland.

Fernandez-Pardo is an exciting prospect

If he does make a move to the Etihad Stadium, Fernadez-Pardo would be a lesser-known arrival than some of the recent additions to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

However, with 12 goals and 11 assists since joining Lille last season from Belgian side KAA Gent, the forward has rapidly developed.

He is already scoring consistently in a top European league, and has the potential to grow into an elite-level striker.

Able to play across the front line or behind a main striker, Fernandez-Pardo’s versatility will also be a big benefit, allowing him to earn more game time in different positions.

City are futureproofing with their transfer policy

Bringing Fernandez-Pardo to the Premier League may not deliver immediate results. He is still raw and inexperienced, with plenty to work on.

Nevertheless, his talent is obvious and there is a lot to get excited about for City fans if he does join the club this summer.

Once again, the Sky Blues are showing their long-term thinking when planning who to bring to the club. If they get this one right, people will once again be praising them for smart business.
