- Man City looking to get back on track
- Aiming for three points against Brentford
- Opta Supercomputer delivers optimistic verdict
Manchester City cannot afford to drop points again in the Premier League, so it is a good thing the Opta Supercomputer has predicted a victory over Brentford.
This is very much the business end of the season, where even one mistake can prove to have grave consequences.
Manchester City have certainly felt this, having fallen five points behind Arsenal with only four Premier League matches left to play.
Win against Brentford and City still have a chance to wrap up the league, but the Gunners would need to drop points.
Should the Citizens draw or lose, any chance of success in the top flight is as good as gone.
Opta Supercomputer predicts Man City victory
According to the Opta Supercomputer, Pep Guardiola’s dreams of a seventh Premier League title are not going to die out this weekend.
Man City have been given a 67 per cent chance of beating Brentford, which is a big figure considering the West London club’s position in the table.
Explaining this prediction, Opta wrote: “Hosts Manchester City have been formidable on home soil this season with 12 wins, three draws, and just one loss in 16 Premier League contests.
“City will be out to prolong a 15-match Premier League home unbeaten streak dating to September 2025 against Manchester United.
“Brentford have earned 20 points from 51 available this season in league matches on their travels.
“The Bees are looking to reverse a three-match away winless streak. They haven’t won in a Premier League away game since February 28 against Burnley.
“In their last six league matches, Manchester City have won three and drawn three. Brentford, meanwhile, have won one, drawn four and lost one in their last six.”
Man City’s Premier League title chances are slim
Despite Opta’s optimism surrounding this Saturday’s fixture, there is less enthusiasm when it comes to the Premier League table as a whole.
City would still trail Arsenal by two points with a win over Brentford, so their chances of winning the league only stand at 14 per cent.
Ultimately, the Gunners are the team in control. If they win their last three matches, the race will be over.
Arsenal’s fall unlikely to come against West Ham
West Ham have been given a 19 per cent chance of beating Arsenal, which is better than Brentford’s hopes of conquering City. However, Mikel Arteta’s men still have a big advantage.
Having said that, the Hammers will be pulling out all the stops to avoid relegation, and will settle for nothing less than a win against Arsenal.
In addition to this, the league leaders have had to cope with a busy schedule, which included 90 minutes of Champions League football last Tuesday.
Man City need to focus on getting the job done at the Etihad, but then all eyes will be on whether West Ham can cause an upset which could change everything.
