Manchester City crowned WSL champions after Arsenal drop points

  • Man City have won WSL
  • 10-year wait for title ended
  • Club successful at all levels

Manchester City have ended a decade-long wait for the Women’s Super League title after being named Champions on Wednesday night.

It has been a disappointing week for the men’s first team, with two points dropped against Everton on Monday.

Jeremy Doku put Manchester City ahead in the first half, but the Toffees scored three goals in quick succession, and in the end the bragging rights were shared.

However, the Man City women’s team are celebrating a major success after a result which went their way last night.

Man City win Women’s Super League

For only the second time ever, Man City have won the WSL. The title was wrapped up after Arsenal drew 1-1 away to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Chelsea are the team in second, trailing City by six points. Despite this, it was the Gunners who had the chance to make a comeback, with three games in hand before their midweek clash.

The Citizens still have one league match left to play, which will take place on the same day of the FA Cup final.

West Ham will host the City women’s team and regardless of the result, it will be an afternoon worth celebrating.

City could win the double

Like Pep Guardiola’s team, Man City women have reached the final of the FA Cup and funnily enough, they will also be taking on Chelsea.

The Blues have pushed City throughout the season and forced the title race to go on for almost the whole campaign.

Chelsea have been in terrific form, but they did suffer a defeat to Arsenal in the Women’s Champions League, which cost them their place in the competition.

Additionally, Man City beat their upcoming opponent 5-1 when the two teams met at the beginning of February.

Man City are having lots of success as a club this season

At the weekend, Man City won the under-18s Premier League Group North and they are also set to play Manchester United in the upcoming FA Youth Cup final.

The under-21s have reached the Premier League 2 semi-final, while the men’s first-team are Carabao Cup winners and FA Cup finalists.

Of course, the Premier League title race is still by no means a foregone conclusion, so a domestic treble is not off the cards yet.

Therefore at every level, Manchester City have achieved a lot over the course of the 2025/26 season.
