- Michael Salisbury to oversee Man City vs Brentford
- Referee has already officiated City once this season
- Guardiola’s side have perfect record under the official
Michael Salisbury will referee Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League clash against Brentford as Pep Guardiola’s side look to keep their title hopes alive.
Man City are heading into another important weekend in the Premier League title race. The Sky Blues will host Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
It will be their third-to-last home league match of the campaign, and Guardiola’s men cannot afford any more slip-ups in the final stretch of the season.
The focus is on City’s performance after a draw against Everton. However, the match officials have also been confirmed now for the weekend clash.
Michael Salisbury to referee Man City vs Brentford
Michael Salisbury will take charge of Man City’s Premier League clash against Brentford at the Etihad Stadium.
The English referee will be joined by Marc Perry and Scott Ledger as assistants, while Rob Jones has been appointed as the fourth official.
James Bell will be on VAR duty for the contest, with Ian Hussin named as the assistant VAR. Salisbury has already officiated City once this season.
The Englishman took charge of their 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
It was a comfortable night for Guardiola’s side as City progressed without receiving a yellow card. The Citizens went on to win the competition by defeating Arsenal 2-0 in the final.
Salisbury’s recent record in Manchester City matches
Man City have a strong recent record in matches officiated by Salisbury. The referee has taken charge of only three City games across his career.
Needless to say, the Carabao Cup winners have won all of them with only two yellow cards shown to City players across the three.
| Season | Competition | Result | Bookings for Man City | Bookings for opponent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025/26 | EFL Cup | Huddersfield Town 0-2 Man City | 0 | 0 |
| 2024/25 | Premier League | Man City 4-1 West Ham United | 2 | 1 |
| 2023/24 | FA Cup | Man City 5-0 Huddersfield Town | 0 | 2 |
City’s opponents, though, weren’t as lucky with three yellow cards total. Huddersfield Town faced two during their FA Cup clash in 2023/24 and West Ham United one in the 2024/25 season.
Man City will hope Salisbury’s record continues
After drawing 3-3 against Everton, Guardiola’s men virtually gave the control back to Mikel Arteta’s side. The former Guardiola apprentice is now top of the table with Arsenal.
The Gunners stand five points clear at the top and have three games left in the Premier League. They also managed to reach the UEFA Champions League final and now face PSG at the end of the month.
City, however, would like to continue their record under Salisbury to shift the pressure. Guardiola’s men could force Arsenal to a slip-up, as the Gunners play in the Premier League on Sunday.
City’s disciplinary record is fairly clean under the Englishman, and they shouldn’t have many problems in securing a win on the weekend.
