- City players attend leaving do
- Walker spotted in Manchester
- Focus turns to Brentford
Manchester City players were seen out in Manchester this week as Bernardo Silva moves closer to his Etihad goodbye.
Man City are entering the final stretch of the season with several major emotions attached to the campaign.
Pep Guardiola’s side recently held to a 3-3 draw against Everton. It was a result that damaged their hopes of ending the season with the Premier League title.
However, the focus is not only on the title race. Bernardo Silva is preparing to leave the club at the end of the season.
With City set to return to action against Brentford this Saturday, several members of the squad were spotted attending a leaving party in Manchester.
Man City stars attend Silva leaving party
According to The Sun, Man City players attended a leaving party for Bernardo Silva at Louis nightclub in Manchester on Tuesday evening.
Phil Foden was pictured arriving with his long-term partner Rebecca Cooke, while Erling Haaland also attended with Isabel Haugseng Johansen.
Several other City stars were also present, including Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Dias, Matheus Nunes, Nico Gonzalex, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Abdukodir Khusanov, James Trafford, Tijjani Reijnders and Marcus Bettinelli.
Former Man City defender Kyle Walker was also spotted, despite leaving the club last summer. The report adds that players began arriving from around 8pm, with the last one not leaving until 1:30 am.
Kyle Walker appearance underlines Silva’s influence
Walker’s attendance is one of the most intriguing details from the night. The defender is no longer part of Guardiola’s squad.
However, his apperanace shows the strength of the relationships he built during City’s most successful era.
Silva has played a major role during that period. The Portuguese international joined from Monaco in 2017 and became Guardiola’s go-to midfielder for control.
His exit will take away a major piece of the Catalan gaffer’s system. Nevertheless, City’s rebuild this summer is going to be tricky as Silva had the characteristics of some of the smartest midfielders.
Man City attention now turns to Brentford clash
The timing of the leaving party will see some criticism with Guardiola’s side having some important matches ahead in a short space of time. Still, there are a few days to go until Brentford visit the Etihad Stadium.
Most recently, City drew 3-3 with Everton and now they have five games to play in 15 days. The draw against the Toffees calls for a response, with Arsenal now six points clear at the top.
Brentford will not be the easiest clash as the Bees are fighting for a spot in Europe for the upcoming campaign.
However, with the title race no longer in their hands, City cannot afford to repeat the same mistakes against Brentford that cost them at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
