Marc Guehi responds after mistake against Everton

Once Everton made it 1-1 against Man City, they quickly grew into the game and ended up scoring two more goals in fairly quick succession.

The visitors managed to recover their deficit late on, but Guehi’s moment of madness still ultimately played a part in costing City their lead.

Although the 25-year-old responded with an assist, he has been critical of himself in a post on his X account.

Guehi posted: “I need to do better, but we keep going & focused on the next. Thank you for your support as always! 🩵 Thank you Jesus!”

FA Youth Cup will not be played at the Etihad Stadium

Man City were defeated in last year’s FA Youth Cup final, which took place at the home stadium of Aston Villa.

The expectation was that this year’s final would also take place at a large venue, and it was supposed to be the Etihad Stadium.

However, Manchester Evening News have reported that after weeks of discussions, the 7000-seater Joie Stadium will host the upcoming Manchester derby.

This is because Man City’s first-team have had to wait for Premier League fixtures to be rescheduled.

With Pep Guardiola’s team having to play two home matches in five days, it is not possible to stage the Youth Cup final at the Etihad.

Troy Deeney names Jeremy Doku in his Premier League team of the week

Unsurprisingly, the Citizens only have one player in Troy Deeney’s team of the week and it is two-time goalscorer Doku.

Despite a strong overall performance, the ex-Watford striker has revealed that Doku has only made his team due to his stoppage time contribution.

Deeney told BBC Sport: “He wasn’t going to be in it until the last kick of the game. Two unbelievable strikes in the same match and one with either foot.

“He’s the most frustrating player to watch because you think ‘you are faster than everyone else – kick and run’, but he likes his tricks.”

Everton were also represented in Deeney’s team, with Vitalii Mykolenko included as he ‘wrapped up Antoine Semenyo in his pocket’.

Phil Foden agrees new Man City contract

It seems this discussion between the club and player have been a big success, as Foden has reportedly already come to an agreement with Man City.

According to The Athletic, an agreement in principle has been reached which will see the England international put pen to paper in the coming weeks.

The proposed four year renewal will last until 2030, and there is an option to extend it by a further 12 months.

All negotiations were handled by 25-year-old Brazilian agent Rafaela Pimenta, whose other clients include Erling Haaland and Sverre Nypan.

Jeremy Doku says Man City gave Everton the game

According to Doku, City were good in the first half and had enough opportunities to distance themselves from Everton.

However, the Belgium international has delivered a harsh blow concerning what came next, as he has claimed that City gave their opponent the match.

He told Man City’s official website: “First half we played well and created a lot of chances. We know if we don’t score those chances it is going to get difficult at the end.

“Obviously, they are at their own stadium, they create chances, and they are dangerous, and they scored two goals, but I think we gave them the game.”

Thierry Henry praises ‘outstanding’ Jeremy Doku

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry analysed Doku’s second strike, which earned his side a point on Merseyside.

The French legend was full of praise for Doku, who was comfortably City’s best player at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Henry said: “What a goal. You don’t need to hit it hard, you just have to place it well and make sure it goes where you want. That’s a beauty.

“That’s just a beauty, there’s no way he [Jordan Pickford] can get that. He [Doku] was outstanding tonight.”

Pep Guardiola praises ‘outstanding’ Man City after Everton draw

It is fairly common for Guardiola to compliment his team regardless of the scoreline, and that is the case once again after Monday night’s draw.

Choosing to look at the positives, Man City’s manager has heaped praise on the way his side performed.

Guardiola told Sky Sports: “Really good, we played outstanding first-half, really, really good. We created a lot when it’s so tight, difficult physically.

“Second-half they [Everton] made a step up, we were maybe not as much aggressive in control, and after we gave away the goal. But after we came back, and they made a proper English game, so aggressive, so, so aggressive in the duels.

“But in general, we made a really good performance!”

“We were outstanding,” he continued. “We arrived to the by-line a lot, shots, and chances, and it’s not easy because they played defensively so well with 10 players there, transitions with Beto and [Kiernan] Dewsbury-Hall, and yeah. So, we take the point, and until it’s over, we’ll continue.”

On drawing, Guardiola added: “It’s better than losing. It’s better to win, and we play for that. It just shows what a team they are; we tried and everything. The players that came up [from the bench], they were aggressive. We have done it.”
