- Man City face Everton on Monday
- City won 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium in October
- Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in 18 against the Toffees
With Manchester City travelling to Everton on Monday night in the Premier League, we’re taking a closer look at the Toffees ahead of this all-important clash.
After a nine-day break, City are back in action on Monday following last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final victory against Southampton at Wembley.
The Sky Blues will face Chelsea in the final, but attention now returns sharply to league action and the game against Everton.
When these two met in October, City won 2-0 at the Etihad thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland. Ahead of Monday’s return fixture, we’re taking a closer look at Everton and their main threats.
David Moyes has revitalised Everton
When manager David Moyes returned to the club in January 2025 following the sacking of Sean Dyche, the Toffees were 16th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone.
The Scottish coach has since restored confidence in the team and reconnected the team with its fans, making the Hill Dickinson Stadium a tough venue for visiting teams.

Now 11th in the Premier League and fully in the hunt for European football, Everton are a very different prospect under Moyes.
They are just three points below sixth-placed Brighton, and have plenty to play for in the final weeks of the season
Who are Everton’s threats against Manchester City?
Looking at the main danger men for Everton, a few names spring to mind. Top scorer Beto has found form after a difficult start to his Everton career, but is an injury doubt, despite returning to training this week.
Another man who won’t be playing is on-loan City forward, Jack Grealish. The England international is ineligible to face his parent club, while also injured.
However, the Toffees still have plenty of players to watch out, including the three stars we have listed below.
Iliman Ndiaye
Senegalese international Ndiaye has been a top performer for Everton this season. With six goals and three assists in 28 Premier League appearances, this right winger is one to look out for.

Ndiaye is a fast, skilful and dynamic attacker who should keep the City defenders busy. His matchup against Nico O’Reilly should make for an exciting battle on Monday night.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Meanwhile, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will be another crucial player for David Moyes. The 27-year-old’s eight goals in all competitions puts him behind only the injured Beto.
A hard-working and committed midfielder, he is equally as important on both sides of the ball, and has developed into the heartbeat of this Everton team under David Moyes.
Jordan Pickford
Finally, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford continues to be one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League this season.

Everton’s season so far
It’s been an up-and-down season for David Moyes and Everton so far this campaign. The Toffees have struggled for consistency, but have picked up big wins such as 3-0 at home to Chelsea and 1-0 against Man United at Old Trafford.

A disappointing defeat to Moyes’ former side, West Ham, last time out will have frustrated players and fans, but there is plenty of positivity in the Blue half of Merseyside at the moment.
If they can string together a run of results in their final four games, a top-six finish is still very possible, which would represent a fantastic achievement from the club.
Should Manchester City be wary of Everton’s threat?
Despite Everton’s improvement under Moyes, the stats suggest they should pose little threat to City on Monday night.
The Carabao Cup winners have won 15 of their last 18 against Everton in all competitions, last losing at Goodison Park in 2017.
Both sides have something to play for, so the Toffees should not be underestimated. However, Manchester City should expect to beat Everton.
