- Reijnders joined Man City last summer
- He has struggled at time this season
- The Dutch star has been linked with an exit
Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium after just one season at the club.
The Dutchman joined from AC Milan in a deal worth around £46 million, and looked to be settling in well in his new environment.
With a goal and an assist on his Premier League debut in August’s 4-0 win against Wolves, Reijnders announced his arrival in spectacular fashion.
However, having failed to score in the league since January, he has been relegated to a handful of substitute appearances in recent months, sparking talk of a surprise exit.
Manchester City star Tijjani Reijnders attracting interest
With his playing time severely reduced in the latter half of the season, Reijnders leaving City has become more of a possibility.
Other clubs are now monitoring his situation, with Italian outlet Calcio Mercato reporting that the player is attracting major interest.

City are said to be considering the midfielder’s future, with an exit not ruled out. The club will hope to recoup a significant portion of the £47m fee they paid to Milan to bring Reijnders to the club.
A return to Milan looks unlikely
As it stands, AC Milan are not expected to come in for Reijnders, despite their links to the player. The finances required to return him to the San Siro would make any deal impractical.
However, a number of other Premier League and top European clubs are believed to be interested in the Dutchman, who has still shown plenty of quality at times.
With City pushing to sign Elliot Anderson, Reijnders may be pushed further down the pecking order. A move away from the club could therefore be sanctioned to balance the club’s outgoings and free up squad space.
Reijnders’ future is hanging in the balance
For now, rumours of Reijnders leaving Man City remain just that. However, if he fails to work his way back into the squad before the end of the season, a move away is still possible.
Given the amount of money Pep Guardiola’s side spent to bring Reijnders to the Etihad, letting him leave after just one season seems unlikely.
And at 27 years old, there would be little to gain from loaning him out. Reijnders will therefore need to stay and fight for his place, or look for a permanent exit in the near future.
