- Man City face Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals
- Jeremy Doku is looking forward to the clash
- The forward is desperate to win the competition
Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku says he is hungry for more trophies ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Southampton.
Pep Guardiola’s side beat Liverpool 4-0 to reach a record eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final, where they will face Championship promotion hopefuls Southampton.
Having already won the Carabao Cup in March and now sitting top of the Premier League, City have the opportunity to win a domestic treble.
If they are to do so, they will need key players to perform, including the likes of Doku, who has been speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s clash at Wembley.
Jeremy Doku motivated by past defeats
If City do get past Southampton, they will reach a fourth consecutive FA Cup final. However, Doku is hoping for a different result than previous defeats against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.
Speaking to The Guardian, he explained how those losses helped motivate the squad to go one better and make it a double cup success this season.
Doku said: “They stay on your mind, but I try to not shift my attention to the things I don’t have. I’m grateful for what I’ve won already.

“So being in the semi-final, I want to go back to the final and win that trophy. Because I won a Carabao Cup, I won the Premier League, so I want to win the FA Cup as well.”
Man City happy but hungry for more
Asked if losing those finals made him even more eager to win this year’s FA Cup, Doku admitted it was on his mind.
He continued: “A bit yes, no. Even if we won those finals, I would be motivated. Like I’m motivated right now to win the Premier League.
“Although I already won a Prem, I’m still motivated because you always want to win. It’s never enough, I would say.”

“We’ve already won a trophy and there’s still two trophies where we have everything in our hands. OK, we are out of the Champions League, but imagine we win those two trophies and have a domestic treble. So we’re happy. Nothing to complain about.”
City now in charge of their own destiny
Wednesday’s win at Burnley moved City to the top of the Premier League table for the first time since the start of the season.
They are now in command of their own destiny, knowing that if they win their remaining games and outscore Arsenal, they will win the title.
Likewise, beating Southampton and then either Chelsea or Leeds in the FA Cup final is entirely within their control.

Having looked a completely different team since the start of 2026, Guardiola’s side have gone from one struggling through a rebuild to a seemingly unstoppable force.
If they can keep this momentum going and secure three trophies, it will have been a remarkable turnaround and a season to remember.
