- James Trafford linked with Man City exit
- Premier League clubs interested
- Serie A outfit enter the race
James Trafford has been linked with a move away from Manchester City and he could have the option to move abroad.
Gianluigi Donnarumma may have made an error against Arsenal, but he is still a nailed-on starter at Manchester City in the Premier League.
This has caused questions over James Trafford’s future, with suggestions that he will depart Man City in the summer.
In recent days, Aston Villa have stepped up their interest in the goalkeeper and other Premier League clubs are interested too, including Tottenham Hotspur.
Trafford is receiving interest from Juventus
Juventus have become the latest club to throw their hat in the ring for Trafford, and they are currently monitoring his situation.
The Daily Mail have reported that the Serie A team would represent an ‘intriguing option’ for Trafford. After all, he would be able to experience a new league while being given the opportunity to play regular Champions League football.
Juventus are exploring the feasibility of a move for Trafford, as their search for a new goalkeeper continues.
The Italian side are looking to spend around £17m, which makes a loan move more likely considering City will not want to make a loss on the 23-year-old.
However, Juventus also hold interest in Alisson Becker and David De Gea, as well as some young European prospects.
Trafford is not going to start for Manchester City in the Premier League
If Trafford was going to be handed some appearances in one of the most important competitions, it would have happened after his Carabao Cup final display.
Trafford was impressive again in the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Liverpool, but he has been bench-bound ever since.
There is no question that the Man City academy graduate has talent, but clearly Donnarumma is Pep Guardiola’s first choice.
Right now, the only chance Trafford seemingly has of making it in the first-team is if Guardiola leaves his role as manager this summer.
Juventus would not hinder Trafford’s England hopes
Once upon a time, there was a lot of stigma surrounding an English player moving abroad, unless they were approaching the end of their career.
However, Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold have moved to Real Madrid in recent times, while Three Lions captain Harry Kane plays for Bayern Munich.
Therefore, Trafford’s chances of becoming an England starter would not be harmed by him joining Juventus. In fact, they would be greatly increased.
The shot-stopper would be playing first-team football for a big European name and he would still be competing for silverware, so it sounds like a good move for him.
Despite this, the one big doubt is about whether or not Juventus are willing to meet City’s transfer fee demands.
