- Man City move within three points of Arsenal
- Game-in-hand still to play
- Opta Supercomputer gaining confidence in City
Manchester City have been handed a greater chance of winning the Premier League by the Opta Supercomputer, after their win against Arsenal.
By the beginning of March, hope had been restored that Manchester City might be able to win the Premier League title after all.
However, draws against Nottingham Forest and West Ham placed Arsenal back in the driving seat to win the title.
Fast forward a few weeks and City’s chances have been raised dramatically, with the Gunners losing to Bournemouth.
Of course, this was followed by defeat for Mikel Arteta’s men at the Etihad Stadium, with Man City getting a huge result when it mattered the most.
Opta Supercomputer updates Premier League table prediction
Before Man City’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal, the Opta Supercomputer gave them only a 14.8 per cent chance of winning the Premier League.

However, this has since been raised to 27 per cent, reflecting just how important it was for City to come out on top against their title rivals.
Although Arsenal are still deemed most likely to win the league, the Sky Blues face Burnley on Wednesday night. Win that, and the predicted table will be updated again in their favour.
Man City are growing in belief
One thing the Supercomputer does not do so well is make predictions based on wider factors than stats alone.
Right now, there is a winning mentality at Manchester City, and belief that they have what it takes to win the Premier League.
Whereas Arsenal will be having all sorts of doubts. As the City fans’ banner read after Sunday’s game, there is panic in the streets of London.
With the momentum clearly weighted in the favour of Pep Guardiola’s team, they are surely the favourites to go on and lift the Premier League trophy.
City could win all their remaining Premier League matches
It has already been said that the Citizens have tougher fixtures than Arsenal and that they will not be able to win them all.
Well actually, if Man City can thrash Chelsea and see off Arsenal, why not the likes of Brentford and Bournemouth.
City are on fire right now and if they continue to play as they have been the past few weeks, no team is stopping Rayan Cherki and his teammates from achieving their goal.
Nothing is ever truly certain in the Premier League, but the chances of Man City winning the title are growing on a weekly basis.
