- Semenyo shares view on Guardiola influence
- Highlights key aspect of City meetings
- Points to manager’s ability in difficult moments
Antoine Semenyo has delivered a strong verdict on Pep Guardiola, offering insight into life under the Manchester City manager.
After a decade at the club, Pep Guardiola has arguably become the best manager the Citizens have ever had.
It’s not just the Catalan’s genius that helps him with this level of success. As many players have pointed out, his mind is only one of many skills that make him the manager he is.
Unsurprisingly, one of his current players had to heap praise on Guardiola again following their recent rise in form.
Antoine Semenyo on learning under Guardiola
After joining City in 2026, Semenyo can clearly see the difference between Guardiola and his former manager, Andoni Iraola.
Both gaffers have differing views on the game, and Semenyo is loving what he sees under the Catalan manager so far.
After praising Erling Haaland, the Ghana international made comments on Guardiola during an interview with Men in Blazers.
“He’s a genius. He has so many ideas, and when we’re in a meeting, everyone’s just learning, every single day, something new”, Semenyo said.
Extending on Guardiola’s achievements and abilities: “But he’s done what he’s done, won so many trophies, one of the most successful managers in the world. Even when things aren’t going great, you know he’s got something in his locker to help the team get their form back. He’s just a genius.”
This season proves a big test for Guardiola
No one is going to discount Guardiola’s achievements even if City fail to win the Premier League this season.
However, it will also be a big test for the 55-year-old. Most of the club’s wins have come from dominating the season.
Likewise, even if he has nothing to prove, winning the league title this season will be the best ending of a decade-long career.
Guardiola’s plan against Arsenal will be something to look out for
While Guardiola has been one of the most consistent managers in football, the former midfielder can sometimes make unconventional choices during important games.
The Champions League final against Chelsea comes to mind, where the gaffer decided against playing a natural defensive midfielder.
This mistake cost City a Champions League title. The game against Arsenal is of similar importance as it can decide the trajectory of the end-of-season fixtures.
Guardiola might choose to be conservative when it comes to the league, but his genius is something no one can predict.
