- Antoine Semenyo full of praise for Bernardo Silva
- Outlines his contributions to Man City
- Shares amusing behind-the-scenes story
Antoine Semenyo has shown his appreciation for Bernardo Silva, while also revealing the unusual treatment the Manchester City captain receives from his teammates.
The word legend is used far too often in sport, but Bernardo Silva has done enough during his nine-year spell at Manchester City to deserve such a title.
Indeed, the midfielder has made 451 appearances for his club, registering 76 goals and 77 assists across all competitions.
During this time, Silva has lifted 19 pieces of silverware and he will be looking to add to his collection before the season ends.
However, every good story comes to an end and Silva confirmed his Man City exit on Thursday afternoon.
Antoine Semenyo lauds ‘amazing’ Bernardo Silva
Silva’s impact at City has been so significant that he has already made an impression on January signings such as Antoine Semenyo.
The winger has spoken highly of his new skipper, describing him as one of the nicest people he has ever met.
Speaking about Silva, Semenyo told In the Mixer: “So durable, so reliable. Honestly he’s been amazing. He’s made me feel so comfortable.”
Very quickly, the 26-year-old proceeded to tell a bizarre story about how even though Silva is well-respected, he is often the victim of his teammates’ pranks.
“And he gets bullied a lot in the changing room, I don’t know why,” Semenyo continued. “A lot of the boys do it, but honestly, one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.”
Explaining why Silva gets bullied, he added: “What he wears to training. It’s not even bad, it’s just very casual.
“I’m walking into the canteen, and I can see him in the corridor getting put in a headlock. I’m like, ‘Ah bless him!’ He hasn’t even done anything. It’s not by one person, it’s by three or four so he’s got no chance!
“He’s a great guy, a great guy to have in the changing room. He’s done so much for City.”
Silva needs to end his Man City career on a high
Truly, Silva’s time at the Etihad Stadium has been nothing short of sensational and City have already won the Carabao Cup in his final season.
However, if the Citizens lose the Premier League title race to Arsenal, that will be a lasting and regretful memory for the 31-year-old.

It is therefore essential that he and his teammates do all they can to complete their league comeback, starting with a victory over the Gunners this Sunday.
Silva has a big decision to make this summer as to where he moves next, but his primary focus right now will be on winning his seventh Premier League title.
The FA Cup is also on offer and City still have the opportunity to win a domestic treble, which would be quite the end to Silva’s lengthy spell in England.
Semenyo discusses ‘serious’ Pep Guardiola
As well as talking about Silva, Semenyo revealed his first experiences of Pep Guardiola when he made the move to Manchester City.
Describing the pair’s first meeting, he said: “He [Guardiola] was just so energetic. Went into his office, soft music playing in the background, smells so nice in his office. He was like, ‘We’re happy to have you here. Continue your fine form and hopefully [we’ll] compete for the league’.”
Semenyo then revealed how Guardiola’s energy shifted during team talks, explaining that the manager’s behaviour actually amused him.
“He’s generally relaxed,” Semenyo added. “It’s when you get into meetings, that’s where he’s serious.
“I remember the first [team] meeting I had, he was just pacing in front of the room. [I was] thinking, ‘Is this normal?’ Looking back, no-one’s laughing, so I’m on my own. He’s so passionate.”
