Noel Gallagher has revealed a text message he received from Pep Guardiola after Manchester City’s win against Chelsea, and predicted when the manager will depart.

Manchester City thumped Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and the club’s superfan Noel Gallagher was watching on from the stands.

Gary Neville joked that Gallagher was a plastic supporter after he was seen exiting the ground with roughly five minutes left to play.

However, the talented musician still got to witness Man City’s best moments, as they moved within touching distance of Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Guardiola does not like to give much away when he speaks to the media, but he has felt at liberty to discuss the Premier League title race with Gallagher.

The singer has told talkSPORT that he received a message from the City boss after his team’s emphatic 3-0 thrashing of the Blues.

Gallagher said: “He [Guardiola] texted me after the game and he is bang on. He’s fired up. Properly, properly fired up.”

When asked if he ever speaks to Guardiola before matches, Gallagher answered: “No, no, I have done it once or twice.

“We can sense it now. It’s crazy to think that we’ve got ten games, potentially ten games left in all competitions, if we win all ten, we’ll have done a domestic treble.

“And nobody was even talking about that two weeks ago, that’s insane.”

Guardiola is keeping quiet on his Man City future

Even though Gallagher has been able to gain insight into Guardiola on a human level, he is still in the dark about when the Catalan coach plans on leaving City.

Asked if the pair had discussed Guardiola’s future, Gallagher said: “No, I wouldn’t be so rude.

“But, I will say that sometimes you see him on TV and you think, ‘well, he’s done ten years,’ and another time you see him and you think, ‘well, he’s openly talking about rebuilding the team.’

“So none of us know. He’s a great poker player, I’ll give him that.”

Guardiola has proved Gallagher wrong

Interestingly, Gallagher has required some convincing from Guardiola this season, as the 58-year-old did not expect Man City to lift silverware.

The Citizens failed to win anything during their previous campaign and it looked like this would be the case again, until more recently.

“I’d be getting told off by the manager because I didn’t think we could, I didn’t think we could win a trophy this season. So I’d be getting a rollicking off him, another one,” Gallagher continued.

“I think we’ll walk it next season. I genuinely think there will be a procession next season. So this would just be the most massive bonus.

“I’d love Bernardo Silva to pick up that trophy because he’s been such a brilliant player for us. If he ends up picking up three trophies on his way out of the door, that would be just the most romantic way to say goodbye.”

Despite Gallagher’s optimism ahead of next season, he is still not convinced if City will win the Premier League this time around.

“Whether City will now bully it out of them [Arsenal] remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised if Arsenal go on and win it [the Premier League] from here,” he added.
