- Marc Guehi was asked about Man City fans chanting towards Arsenal
- The defender gave a cold response post-match
- His answer highlighted his focus after City’s 3-0 win
Marc Guehi delivered a blunt response after Manchester City’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Chelsea, making it clear where his priorities lie despite the noise from the stands.
Man City’s win at Stamford Bridge was nothing short of mesmerising. The first half was dull for the visitors, but the second half came alive thanks to the likes of Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku.
Marc Guehi was also one of the heroes on the scoresheet this evening. The defender made a composed turn in the second-half after receiving an outside foot pass from Cherki.
The Englishman then placed the ball like a striker in the away corner, scoring the second goal of the game. With another Big Six thrashing, City supporters invented some new chants in London today, and Guehi had the perfect reply when asked about it.
Guehi’s blunt response about Arsenal
Despite the win in London, Guehi didn’t let overconfidence get the better of him. The Sky Blues welcome Arsenal on the 19th at the Etihad in what could be the title decider.
After scoring three goals at Stamford Bridge, City fans started singing, “Are you watching Arsenal?”, mocking their title rivals.
Guehi was asked about the same in the post-match interview. The 25-year-old was quizzed on whether he hoped that the Gunners were watching the game.

“Your supporters are singing ‘are you watching Arsenal’… do you hope they were?”, Guehi was asked.
“I don’t think it matters”, replied the former Crystal Palace captain.
How does this reflect the Sky Blues’ mentality?
Guehi’s response is probably what’s being experienced by all the players in the City dressing room. With still eight Premier League games to go, the war isn’t won yet.
They’ve inched closer to the title as they went from a nine-point to a six-point difference and also have a game in hand.
Arsenal will be the biggest challenge, but the players will be confident after three consecutive wins against Big Six teams.
Marc Guehi scores his first Premier League goal for Man City
The defender netted his first Premier League goal in a Sky Blues shirt against Chelsea. However, his first-ever goal for the club came against Salford City in the FA Cup fourth round.
Interestingly, the 81st-minute strike against Salford was also a result of an assist from Cherki. Against the Blues, the defender managed the highest interceptions of any player (3).
He also ranked first for blocks (2), alongside Marc Cucurella, Abdokodir Khusanov and Andrey Santos. The Englishman also didn’t shy away on the attacking front as he made the most passes into the final third (20).
