Former Manchester City and England midfielder Gareth Barry has named six ex-Man City stars in his ultimate XI of players he’s played with.

Barry played an incredible 653 times in the Premier League, holding the league’s all-time appearance record until he was surpassed by another ex-city star, James Milner, earlier this season.

The 45-year-old joined City in 2009 from Aston Villa, spending five years at the Etihad Stadium before moving to Everton.

He then finished his professional career at West Brom, having won 53 caps for England in a glittering and incredibly consistent career.

Speaking to Daily Mail Sport, Barry named a dream squad of former teammates from throughout his 22-year playing career.

Half a dozen former Manchester City players made the star-studded XI, which also included the likes of Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Ashley Cole.

The six Man City players Barry named were Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Sergio Aguero.

Barry’s time at City coincided with the club’s rise to the top of English football, with the midfielder playing a crucial role in securing a maiden Premier League title for the Sky Blues, as well as the 2011 FA Cup.

Barry’s ultimate selection brings back fond Man City memories

Looking through the legendary stars named in Barry’s ultimate XI will no doubt prompt a smile from Man City supporters.

The unforgettable 2011/12 season saw those names star in the most dramatic finish to a Premier League campaign. This of course saw City score deep into added time to snatch the title from Manchester United on the final day.

While that iconic finale is best remembered for the “Agueroooooo!” moment, all six City legends in Barry’s team played their part, as did the man himself.
