- Nico O’Reilly scored twice as Manchester City beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final
- His second strike was particularly impressive
- It has even won him an award
Nico O’Reilly has received a special recognition for one of his goals during Manchester City’s Carabao Cup final victory over Arsenal last month.
O’Reilly scored twice in four minutes at Wembley Stadium to earn Man City a 2-0 victory and secure the Carabao Cup for a ninth time in the club’s history.
The 22-year-old headed City in front on the hour mark after capitalising on an error from Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
He then scored a header just minutes later to double the Citizen’s advantage and put Pep Guardiola’s side on course for victory.
Nico O’Reilly wins Man City’s Goal Of The Month award for March
O’Reilly’s second goal has been recognised as Manchester City’s best effort on target during the month of March. As a result, the 21-year-old has won the club’s Goal of the Month award.
A worthy winner 🏆

It was a powerful back-post header, as the ball found the top corner after a delicately clipped ball from Matheus Nunes, leaving Kepa with no chance of stopping it.
O’Reilly has now scored eight goals for City this season, while providing five assists. Those are pretty impressive stats, considering the England international has played much of the season at left-back.
Rising star O’Reilly could be pivotal in title battle
With eight games left of the Premier League season, City remain in the hunt for the title. They trail leaders Arsenal by nine points, but have a game in hand over the Gunners.
The two title rivals meet at the Etihad on Sunday 19 April, in a match that will go a long way in deciding who lifts this year’s Premier League trophy.
Having established himself as a key member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, academy graduate O’Reilly will have a big role to play.
If City are to chase down Arsenal and win the title, they will need players like O’Reilly to perform as he has done recently.
Plus, if he continues to show up in big moments as he did at Wembley, a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad is almost a given.
