  • Manchester City thrashed Liverpool in the FA Cup
  • Marc Guehi returned to the starting lineup
  • The defender has lauded his new club

Marc Guehi has shown his appreciation towards Manchester City after a stunning 4-0 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Manchester City defeated Liverpool with ease on Saturday afternoon, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Marc Guehi was one of the defenders to play a part in this accomplishment. The 25-year-old was back in the starting lineup after missing out on the Carabao Cup final due to his ineligibility.

Although in truth, the centre-back only had so much to do. In total, he made six defensive contributions and won one of his two ground duels.

However, Guehi will just have been happy to be playing with his team again, as they attempt to win a second trophy this season.

Marc Guehi discusses his time so far at Man City

Guehi is very pleased to be playing in the Man City first-team and he is full of praise for those around him.

According to the England international, the North Western club are very much meeting his expectations and he is learning plenty on the job.

“It’s hard to put into words,” Guehi told TNT Sports. “It’s relentless, exciting, everything I wanted, to be able to play at this level, challenge for trophies. But just learning a lot, being able to make mistakes, coming out again and learning again.

“It’s something I want to do, and I’ve been given the opportunity to do that here, with a fantastic football club, amazing players, amazing manager, and the fans have been great as well.”

Guehi wants to win a second successive FA Cup

Although Guehi was unable to take part in the Carabao Cup final, he played in last season’s FA Cup final, captaining Crystal Palace to victory against Man City.

As well as this, Guehi starred for the Eagles in a Community Shield win over Liverpool. Interestingly, this was the first of his five triumphs over the Reds this season.

Clearly the centre-back already has a taste for trophies and he will be doing everything he can to ensure he plays a key role in City’s next major success.
