  • Phil Foden has been out of form
  • Man City have made a decision on his future
  • England also have a choice to make for the World Cup

Manchester City have decided whether or not to keep Phil Foden this summer, while Thomas Tuchel is moving closer to a decision on the player’s World Cup prospects.

Phil Foden is no longer viewed as one of England’s bright young talents. Despite this, Thomas Tuchel did hand him two starts during the international break.

However, Foden has frequently found himself on the bench during Manchester City’s most recent fixtures, especially the ones deemed most important.

The 25-year-old has not completed a 90-minute Premier League match since the beginning of January.

Worse still, he did not play at all against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Then there was the one-minute cameo in the Carabao Cup final, which would have been tough for Foden to take.

Man City want to keep Phil Foden

Despite Foden’s hardships, Team Talk have reported that Manchester City have absolutely no plans to sell the attacker. This is despite the fact he is attracting interest from multiple European clubs.

Foden is only contracted to the Citizens until next year. However, talks over a new deal are said to be progressing positively.

The England international is still viewed as an ‘integral’ player and there is no desire within the club hierarchy to entertain offers for his services this summer.

Foden might not play at the World Cup

England recently failed to defeat both Uruguay and Japan. Foden started both games, but he did not make it past the hour mark in either fixture.

The Stockport-born star was most recently played in a false nine role, showing that he is viewed as more of a floater to cover for injured players, rather than a nailed-on starter.

TNT Sports have even captured Tuchel saying: “Phil was excellent in the camp but he struggles to show it on the pitch. It’s not a guarantee he will come [to the World Cup].

Therefore, even if Foden does sign a new deal with Man City, he is still in for a cruel summer if gets omitted from the Three Lions squad.
