- Abdukodir Khsanov started five matches in April
- This included the Carabao Cup final victory
- The defender has received an award for his displays
Abdukodir Khusanov has won Manchester City’s player of the month award after some impressive performances in March.
The past month was shaping up to be quite rotten for Manchester City. Points were dropped in the Premier League and Pep Guardiola’s team suffered a brutal Champions League exit against Real Madrid.
However, things took a turn for the better when they lifted the Carabao Cup in their final March fixture, a 2-0 victory over Arsenal.
Regardless of some disappointing results, Khusanov stood out for his strong showings and this has led to him receiving an award from the club.
Abdukodir Khusanov wins Man City’s player of the month award
Khusanov has been voted as Man City’s player of the month for the second time, after defeating Rodri and Jeremy Doku in a fan poll.
City supporters have enjoyed watching the Uzbek warrior launch into tough tackles and he has really stepped up when it has mattered.
Other than a first leg tie against Real Madrid when every Man City player was poor, Khusanov showed his quality in all of his team’s March fixtures. He is very much a worthy winner of the award.
Khusanov heaps praise on Man City fans
Man City fans will feel grateful for Khusanov’s contributions over the past month and the player himself has thanked the supporters for backing him.
The centre-back told Man City’s April Magazine: “I’m proud to play for this club. City have incredible fans who support us both at home and away. in big numbers. Wearing this shirt is a huge responsibility.
“Their support, of course means a lot to us and I’d like to personally thank them – even in difficult moments, they are there. We truly appreciate it.
“We want to win even more trophies for them. And of course, my dream is for us to win the Champions League,” he added
Khusanov will want to start more Premier League matches
The FA Cup is Man City’s most realistic chance of winning a second piece of silverware this season. Despite this, the Premier League title will be on their minds more than anything else.
Even though Khusanov has recently made a few starts, he has spent a lot of time on the bench during league fixtures.
Obviously the 22-year-old will be looking to change this and with performances like the ones he delivered in March, his chances appear quite promising.
