- Ian Subiabre has become one of the most in-demand South American talents
- Five of the Premier League Big Six have shown an interest
- Italy might end up being the unconventional destination for Subiabre
Ian Subiabre has become the talk of the town among the top European clubs, making a move to the continent inevitable.
Manchester City have a long-standing interest in Ian Subiabre, with reports suggesting the club have been tracking the young forward for years.
Claudio Echeverri joined City two years ago from River Plate and the Citizens tried to secure Subiabre’s signature as well.
There were no formal talks of a double deal, but Man City hoped to position themselves in the mix by building a relationship with the Argentine giants.
However, things could take a wrong turn for Pep Guardiola’s side, as a Serie A club are pushing hard to sign Subiabre.
Inter Milan’s talks prove a major hit to Man City Ian Subiabre hopes
According to TEAMtalk, Inter Milan have opened talks with River Plate for Subiabre and they are not the only ones interested.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have been observing the 19-year-old, while Chelsea are said to be taking a more proactive approach to sign the forward.
The Blues have held discussions over a potential deal, and having the youngest average squad in the Premier League means he would slot into their squad rather nicely.
Man City could attempt to utilise their history with River Plate
Inter Milan may have made the first move to sign Subiabre, but Man City still hold an important advantage over the Italian outfit.
City have made two direct signings from River Plate in the past. Whereas, Inter have failed to make any under current chairman and CEO Giuseppe Marotta. Julian Alvarez was the first and Echeverri followed in 2024 for a rumoured initial of £12.5m.
Therefore, City could see to use this to their advantage as they look to sign the versatile star, who can play anywhere across the frontline.
