“We need a Manchester City night”: Bernardo Silva gives brilliant answer in press conference

Bernardo Silva has spoken about what Manchester City require in order to make an unlikely comeback against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Real Madrid were not all that convincing in the league phase of the Champions League. In fact, they even suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester City.

Even against Benfica, Madrid did not blow their opposition away and the team’s performance over the two legs was nothing special.

However, the Spanish club did not let this define them. Instead, they crafted the perfect gameplan and put Man City to the sword in Madrid.

With Pep Guardiola’s side needing a comeback, that point about not letting one or two poor displays define them is absolutely crucial.

Bernardo Silva says a Manchester City night is needed

Real Madrid are known for making unexpected comebacks in Europe, but Man City have a rich history of their own.

According to Bernardo Silva, they do not need a Real Madrid night, but a Manchester City night to show their doubters what they are capable of achieving.

He said in Guardiola’s pre-match press conference: “I think we need to have a Manchester City night, we have also had many of those where many people didn’t believe in us.

“Real [Madrid] have had many memorable nights particularly in the last few years and we want to create an atmosphere of belief in the stadium and the pace we want to inject into it and not to suffer attacks, to score a goal, With one goal the atmosphere of the ground will change.”

Man City could use another goal from Silva

During the same press conference, Silva admitted his goal against West Ham was accidental, but they all count. If he could get another against Real Madrid, this would do his confidence a world of good, while helping Man City push for a victory.

Erling Haaland has misfired in his past few starts and so City need to have goal threats all over the pitch in case the Norwegian struggles to get going again.

With three goals at the very least required, the Citizens really need their attacking line to step up and put on a show.
