Manchester City’s links with Ballon d’Or winner turn out to be false alarm

Manchester City were rumored to be interested in a Ballon d’Or winning attacker, but it seems this is just a simple misunderstanding.

Preparations are already being made at Manchester City for the summer transfer window and oh boy is it necessary!

Pep Guardiola has a lot of talented players at his disposal, but there are still positions which need strengthening.

Wednesday night provided evidence of this, as Man City were thumped by a Real Madrid side who meant business.

Manchester City have been linked with Ousmane Dembele

With Man City needing more quality in their squad, what better option is there than to attempt the signing of last year’s Ballon d’Or winner?

It has recently emerged that Man City sporting director Hugo Viana met with Ousmane Dembele’s agent before the Real Madrid game, according to Sport.

The meeting took place at City’s team hotel, with reports indicating the Sky Blues were interested in the French winger.

Man City have made no efforts to sign Dembele

Despite these rumours, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the discussion between Dembele’s agent and Viana was not about a potential deal for the player.

There has been no contact or talks about bringing the 28-year-old to the Etihad Stadium, meaning the links were essentially a false alarm.

This means the chances of Man City owning both the 2024 and 2025 Ballon d’Or winners next season is actually highly unlikely after all.
