Manchester City need all the help they can get against Real Madrid next week and Jeremy Doku is hoping to receive this from the club’s supporters.
The Bernabeu houses Real Madrid fans who know how to make an atmosphere, making it a daunting place to visit.
Although the Etihad Stadium lacks that reputation, it can still be a fortress for Manchester City, especially on European nights.
City supporters may be feeling discouraged after the events of Wednesday night, but they will need to offer their full support if Pep Guardiola’s team are to have any chance of progression.
Jeremy Doku requests the backing of Man City supporters
Man City have an extremely tough task on their hands and Jeremy Doku believes he and his teammates need the fans on their side in order to be successful.
The winger still believes City can make a comeback, but only if they feel the full backing of those who will be watching on from the stands.
Doku told Hayters TV: “It’d be crazy if I said there was no chance [of coming back against Real Madrid].
“Obviously they are a massive team, but they scored three against us, so why can’t we? At the Etihad, we’ll need our fans to put pressure [on them]. Everything is possible, so we still believe. If they are with us, it’s a completely different game.
“We really need them to push us and put pressure on them, hear them because maybe they don’t know but it has a lot of influence on us. We trust they will be there for us and cheer us on.”
Man City have a good home record this season
Even though Manchester City were unable to beat Nottingham Forest in their most recent home game, they still enjoy playing at the Etihad Stadium.
In fact, no team have picked up more points in the Premier League this season than Man City, which Real Madrid will surely know.
However, City do not just need a win – they need a thrashing. Therefore, Doku and everyone else will need to deliver their best performance of the season in order to make it through to the Champions League quarter-finals.
