Newcastle United have received some positive news ahead of their FA Cup fifth round tie against Manchester City.
The day has arrived for Manchester City to lock horns with Newcastle for a fifth time this season and both teams will need to bring their A game.
Man City may feel increased confidence in being able to perform at their highest level, as Nico O’Reilly is feeling good and could make his comeback after a short-term injury.
However, Newcastle have also been handed a boost ahead of the fixture as a player who has scored nine goals this season is likely to be back to full match fitness.
Nick Woltemade should be well enough to face Manchester City
According to Eddie Howe, Nick Woltemade has been taking part in training and should be ready to line up against Man City.
Tino Livramento is less likely to be fit in time, although he has been working hard to recover, while there is no chance of a Lewis Miley return.
Howe said in his pre-match press conference: “Tino [Livramento] is getting there, let’s wait and see. He hasn’t trained with us yet, but he has done a lot of work. He has a lot of work behind him, but it is just that training time with us.
“Nick [Woltemade] should be okay, had an illness, he trained yesterday individually and felt okay. Lewis [Miley] will not make the next couple of games.”
Woltemade has been struggling to score goals
Before his illness, Woltemade was on a run of seven Premier League appearances without a goal, despite showing promise earlier in the season.
This has led to criticism, with Adrian Durham even branding the German as the worst signing in Premier League history.
Man City will hope his struggles continue, as they look to defend better after their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest and advance to the next round.
