Manchester City supporters are all saying the same thing about Phil Foden

Phil Foden was back in the starting lineup to face Nottingham Forest, but his performance has not gone down well with Manchester City fans.

Antoine Semenyo was on target again for Manchester City on Wednesday night, scoring his fifth Premier League goal for his new team.

This is only two fewer than Phil Foden’s tally for the season and the Englishman has failed to score in his past 11 club appearances.

The Englishman went on a brilliant four-match run near the end of last year which saw him register seven goal contributions in four matches.

However, Foden has struggled to deliver in recent weeks and Man City supporters were not impressed by his latest display against Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City fans slam Phil Foden

There was a lot of frustration among Man City’s followers after their underwhelming midweek performance and it is not difficult to understand why this was the case.

City dropped points against a team under threat of relegation from the Premier League and Foden was deemed to be one of the hosts’ worst performers.

Many fans took to social media to discuss Foden, with @City_Chief posting: “one assis, zero goals. That’s Phil Foden’s return in his last 18 games for Manchester City. For one of the highest earners in the squad, that’s nowhere near good enough.

“Phil Foden should not start another game this season. He’s been performing at Championship level for over three months now. Tonight he cost us two points. In a title race, that’s simply unacceptable.”

@McfcGalaxy1894 claimed: “Phil Foden has learned nothing from KDB, Gundogan and Bernardo.”

Another post from @Talhaa10_ read: “The most annoying thing is, I genuinely thought this would be Foden’s best season. He was unbelievable that month, I don’t know what’s happened to him now. His mentality absolutely stinks, that’s for sure. If this continues next season then please sell him.”

Perhaps the most brutal of them all, @trevsenpaii commented: “Foden starts and we lose the league title LOL.”

Foden has been dropped by Pep Guardiola in recent weeks

Although Foden was selected to start against Forest, he was benched during victories over Liverpool and Leeds and played for just three minutes against Newcastle.

Guardiola tried bringing him back into the team, but ultimately his decision failed to bear fruit for Man City.

As a result of Foden’s most recent performance, it would not be surprising if he does not feature in some important upcoming games for his club.
