Rodri’s transfer preference revealed sparking Manchester City exit rumours

Rodri has been a regular starter for Manchester City when he is available, but this has not prevented talks of a potential summer exit.

Manchester City have had some incredible talents over the years, but none has been as successful on an individual level as Rodri.

The midfielder is the only player in Man City’s history to win the Ballon d’Or, receiving the award after his team won the Champions League nearly three years ago.

However, Rodri’s current contract expires in 2027 and this has led to speculation about his future in the Premier League.

Barcelona lead Real Madrid in the race to sign Rodri from Man City

Rodri is receiving interest from his home country and according to Fichajes, Barcelona have overtaken Real Madrid in the race to secure his signature.

This is because the 29-year-old prefers the project at Barcelona and the club see him as the ‘ideal midfielder’ due to his orchestrative play and leadership.

However, Real Madrid have not given up hope in their bid to sign Rodri, a player they have been monitoring for months.

Rodri could become available for less than £50m

There is no question that Rodri still remains an important figure at Man City, but if he decides to opt for a change of scenery, the club could be forced to sell him.

Otherwise, the Spaniard would leave on a free transfer the following summer, which is a situation Man City will be looking to avoid.

Therefore, Barcelona could have a shot at signing the Rodri for just £44.6m, a price which reflects his age, as well as the length of time remaining on his contract.
