Pep Guardiola provides the latest on Erling Haaland and Nico O’Reilly in Manchester City team news update

Manchester City will face Nottingham Forest this Wednesday and Pep Guardiola has revealed an update on the availability of Erling Haaland and Nico O’Reilly.

There is just one day to go until Manchester City return to Premier League action and the excitement is building ahead of another opportunity to close the gap on Arsenal.

City had to fight hard to get the result against Leeds United last weekend, but Antoine Semenyo’s first half strike was enough to secure a victory.

However, Nico O’Reilly picked up an injury during the Saturday evening encounter, while Erling Haaland was ruled out of the fixture shortly before kick off.

Both players have had key involvements in recent victories and Pep Guardiola has offered an update on whether they will be fit to feature against Nottingham Forest.

Pep Guardiola delivers Manchester City’s team news

Guardiola has spoken in his pre-match press conference about the availability of Haaland and O’Reilly and he has not been able to confirm if either player is match fit.

However, the manager sounds hopeful that his players could be ready for the Wednesday night clash and he will be able to give another update after training.

Speaking at his press conference, Guardiola told the media: “He [Haaland] feels much better, yesterday we didn’t train. We will decide today. Nico the same, we decide after training.”

Guardiola may be cautious with Haaland and O’Reilly

If Haaland and O’Reilly are both deemed fit to take on Forest, there are no guarantees they will play the full duration of the game.

After all, Man City have an FA Cup tie against Newcastle on Saturday and the first leg of their Champions League last 16 showdown with Real Madrid.

This is a very demanding schedule and Guardiola could come to the decision not to start either one or both of the two players, even if they are given the all clear by City’s medical staff.
