Arsenal lead the way in the Premier League by five points, but Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is backing Manchester City to close the gap due to one key advantage.
Manchester City are constantly playing catch-up in the Premier League, but the points difference between themselves and Arsenal has decreased in recent weeks.
The Gunners looked like obvious title winners not so long ago, but City’s recent run of consistency has made things a lot more interesting.
There are fewer than two months to go until the teams clash in the league and Jamie Carragher believes Man City could be even closer to Arsenal by that point.
Jamie Carragher claims Manchester City have easier fixtures than Arsenal
According to Carragher, the five point gap between Arsenal and Man City is deceiving because in reality, Pep Guardiola’s team are only two behind if they win their game in hand.
The ex-Liverpool defender has also pointed out that Man City have more favourable matches coming up, which means this gap could close even more in the coming weeks.
"There's still a long way to go"

He told Sky Sports: “It does feel a bit like that. I think over the next couple of weeks I would say Man City’s fixtures are slightly more favourable. Arsenal’s gap is five points but in reality, it’s probably two with the game in hand and I can see that closing before they play each other.
“Long way to go. We aren’t quite into March yet and I think Sir Alex Ferguson, a man who knows a title run in better than anyone, always spoke about dropping points in March and April and how you can’t rectify that as there’s not enough time.”
Carragher continued: “I think it might be around the mid ‘80s. What I did see before the weekend was that Arsenal were the lowest points that a title winner had had up to now since Leicester. So that tells you it might not be as high as we’ve seen in the past. But it doesn’t matter, you just win the league,” he added.
Carragher says Arsenal still have the better team
Even though Carragher has outlined why Man City have an advantage, he has still maintained that Arsenal are the best side in the Premier League.
His evidence for this is that while City are scraping victories such as Saturday’s 2-1 win over Newcastle, Arsenal have delivered a number of statement trumphs.
Carragher added: “I still think Arsenal are the best team and the best squad. When I see Arsenal win compared to when I see City, it almost feels like it’s City just getting the job done.
“Arsenal have been the best team but, it doesn’t matter what I say, it’s just got to get done hasn’t it!”
