Barcelona could swap Marcus Rashford for Manchester City star

Marcus Rashford is having a decent season at Barcelona, but Hansi Flick believes there is a Manchester City forward who would be a better fit for his system.

Marcus Rashford would have been expected to remain at Manchester United for a large part of his career, but his struggles there became too much, leading to a loan move to Aston Villa.

This could have led to a permanent transfer but Villa opted not to sign Rashford, so he joined Barcelona last summer.

The 28-year-old is having a fairly good season with the Spanish giants, bagging 10 goals and 13 assists in 34 matches across all competitions.

However, Hansi Flick believes there is a player at Manchester City who would function better in his system, meaning Barcelona could be in talks with the Premier League club this summer.

Barcelona want to sign Savinho from Man City

According to El Nacional, Hansi Flick is an admirer of Savinho’s overflow, one-on-one play, change of pace and ability to break through closed defences. The German even believes he could provide more impact than players such as Rashford.

Signing the talented dribbler would also be advantageous because he is much younger than Rashford and has time to develop.

Barcelona are observing Savinho’s situation at Man City with attention and interest and are aware that his game time has been limited this season. Therefore, Flick’s team will be looking at bringing the ‘priority’ transfer target to La Liga.

Manchester City set asking price for Savinho

The bad news for Barcelona is that Man City are not looking to sell Savinho for any fee under £39.3m, a figure which seriously complicates any approach made.

City do not feel the need to make a quick sale, which means they could well stand by their asking price, much to the dismay of the La Liga holders.

Ultimately, whether this deal goes ahead or not could depend on how much Barcelona are willing to spend to make it happen.
