Manchester City have received an update on whether or not Erling Haaland has reached match fitness in time for their Saturday night encounter with Newcastle United.
Erling Haaland is having another campaign to remember and he has already matched his Premier League goals tally from last season after just 26 games.
The Norweigen international is leading the race for the golden boot and he has been just as impressive in Europe, scoring seven times in the Champions League.
However, Haaland was withdrawn at half-time during Man City’s victory over Fulham earlier in the month and he did not feature against Salford City in the FA Cup.
This has led to questions over whether the goal machine will be fit in time to face Newcastle after his minor injury problem.
Erling Haaland has been greenlighted for the Newcastle fixture
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Haaland has overcome his brief spell on the sidelines and will feature against Newcastle on Saturday night.
When asked if the centre forward was fully fit, Guardiola nodded his head to signal that there are no longer any concerns about his availability.
According to Manchester Evening News, Haaland has been involved with his team’s training this week, so he could well be leading the line on what is another must-win occasion for City.
Haaland has not scored against Newcastle this season
Keeping Haaland from scoring is an accomplishment many teams fail to achieve. However, Newcastle have done a good job at this each time they have faced the 25-year-old.
Man City have already played the Magpies three times this season and Haaland is yet to score in any of the fixtures.
He will be looking to change his fortunes tonight, but Newcastle are a team who have a lot of confidence and they will do everything in their power to silence him.
