The kick off time for Manchester City’s visit to Newcastle in the FA Cup fifth round has been revealed and it will not go down well with the travelling fans.
Manchester City are one of two teams in England still competing on all fronts and this includes the country’s oldest competition.
Pep Guardiola’s team recorded a 2-0 victory over Salford City last Saturday and are now tasked with winning away from home against Newcastle United.
This will be the fifth time the teams have met this season. The Magpies won their first Premier League clash, but it was City who won at home and on the road in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Tomorrow will see the victor of the fourth fixture decided and it is an 8pm kick off at the Etihad Stadium, much to the dismay of the Newcastle supporters.
Manchester City learn FA Cup fifth round date
Man City will take on Newcastle once again on Saturday, March 7, just three days after their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.
Unsurprisingly, the match will be broadcast on TNT Sports and another 8pm kick off time has been selected, which has not gone down well with the fans who will be making the journey.
Manchester to Newcastle and back is a near 300-mile round trip and there will be no returning trains after the game, forcing those who are not on a supporters’ bus to pay for a hotel room.
Man City can still win the quadruple
Every Manchester City follower will have fond memories of the club’s historic treble triumph for many years to come and they actually have the opportunity to do one better this season.
City only have one game left to clinch the Carabao Cup and a victory over Newcastle in the FA Cup would see them reach the quarter-finals.
However, while four trophies are still on offer, there is no guarantee at this point that the Citizens will end the season with any, so Guardiola’s main focus is likely to be on the Premier League.
